PEAR Flattened by winter storms, it amazed me by sprouting leaves this spring. Badly damaged roots couldn’t possibly sustain it at original size, so with great regret (nice fruit!) I halved the main trunk height. Then, with ropes attached to neighbouring apples, I hauled it upright and built a support frame.
APPLE Not the Sunset it was purported to be; but that’s end of season bargains for you, even from a major nursery. The wind canted it when very young; last winter considerably worsened the angle. This frame should help bear the weight of fruit.
