Inspired by the distant sight on Tuesday morning (6th July) of a little girl having great fun on the Marloes Beacon trig. point marker – including, indeed, fearlessly leaping off from time to time, and then of course needing Mum or Dad to help her get back up on top!
8th July 2021
Care-free girl who’s on top of the world,
Hair blowing, long hair blowing,
From here it seems you’re singing a silent song.
Where are your words going,
Where are your words going,
As into the breeze you dance their tune along?
Your song’s on the wind, and the wind’s from the West,
So your joy and your love are carrying East
As you jig up on top of that high, high stone,
Skipping each gust which skirls your dress:
So much fun in this sun
And the warm summer air
As out goldenly streams your Princess hair…
You must capture this, please capture this
In your memory, for times when you’ll be elsewhere:
How you played there up above all the rest,
Tiptoe dancing around so fast;
And for miles and miles and miles around,
The Earth knew your delight, though it heard no sound!
