3 Breakfast on BBC Radio 3 is Bristol-themed, this morning. Petroc Trelawney played Stranger On The Shore by Acker Bilk, mentioning that AB came from Pensford; here is my winter 1991 painting of Pensford viaduct and the Chew weir.
I discovered while working on this picture that the viaduct acts as an audio lens: in calm weather you can walk a long way up the far side of the valley, and still hear the sound of the weir!
For historians: built 1874 for the Bristol & North Somerset Railway (Bristol to Radstock).
