The Pembrokeshire folk group Broadoak played at Dale Coronation Hall yesterday evening; we were treated to some excellent singing and playing and the second half of their show, their new collection of words and music under the title Birdsong , was most effective. They performed “in the round” in the auditorium, which worked well acoustically; but I found it a bit harder than usual to sketch looking straight across compared with having my subjects on a raised stage.
