The BBC are making a big fuss about a Gateshead project, and others to follow.
In 2004 I was part of a Building Research Establishment / Geoscience / Midlothian Council team looking at a large Mine Water Heat Pump project for Shawfair near Edinburgh: huge possibilities, but of course nothing happened. It wasn’t “rocket science” then, as the Norwegians already had MWHPs; and, you won’t be surprised to learn, the Netherlands project partner (municipality of Heerlen) went ahead with their scheme.
Meanwhile there’s huge potential in South Wales, as I helped BRE point out at the time… Still sitting there, unexploited.
