Here’s a song I wrote earlier this year, dedicated to the Lobster Pot; thanks to Pete Bounds for his help.
THE LOBSTER POT IN MARLOES
Tune: The Eagles – Hotel California
B four-three-two-seven, heading West
Seeking somewhere friendly where the drinks would be the best
Sign by the roadside, for the Skomer boat…
Had to take that turn –
Such a dry, dry throat!
Two-street village
With a ding-dong clock;
When I saw the pub sign,
Knew I had to stop!
Soon as I pushed the door,
Was standing in the warm,
A smiling girl behind the bar
Stretched out her arm…
Welcome to the Lobster Pot in Marloes –
A cosy pub; we serve good grub!
Lock-in night at the Lobster Pot in Marloes:
We have beer and wine, and the gin’s so fine…
Every Friday evening,
It’s open mic:
Anyone can have a go,
Sing just what they like.
Pete runs the PA,
Takes photos too;
Perform, and you get a free pint
Of your favourite brew!
Juke box and TV,
Pool table and darts;
Wood burning stove which melts
The coldest of cold cold hearts.
Deep chairs to slump in,
As snug as Home:
Settle down by that blaze –
You’ll never want to roam!
Welcome to the Lobster Pot in Marloes,
A cosy pub; we serve good grub.
Lock-in night at the Lobster Pot in Marloes:
We have beer and wine, and the gin’s so fine…
