Keep scrolling down… As first posted on 30th December, here’s the photo (adjusted version) I have just found hidden behind a modern-ish print in an old glazed picture frame:
Below is the pencil inscription on the back of the photo, which I’m sure is contemporary. The original writing is so faint, I’ve had to use the computer to hugely increase the contrast. All I can make out is “253 / Bentley / 20 Priory…”
I can’t remember if the picture was left behind when I moved to Marloes 20 years ago (plenty of stuff was!), or whether I picked it up from a Haverfordwest or Milford Haven junk shop. Either way, if we assume it is local then the best bet is that this is a fairly prosperous Milford Haven family who lived at Priory or on Priory St / Priory Avenue in the town. Probably 253 is just the photographer’s job number.
Perhaps someone out there knows more…
