My gathering from Marloes Sands on Thursday 10th. Usually these torpedo floats are moulded in yellow polypropylene, so much so that many people talk of “lemon floats” when they mean this particular design.
The south end of this beach has an amazing knack for presenting items on the tideline uncannily well sorted: bottles here; rope there; in summer, left-behind knickers and socks in a different place from surf shoes and sun hats… All these floats were stranded on a twenty yard stretch – but you can be sure that they were widely scattered, bobbing shorewards across the bay!
That’s a full tin of genuine Indian ghee (clarified butter); Lady Nightingale intends to use it to make fat balls for feeding the birds who live round Nightingale Manor.
