Red in beak and talon

Yesterday I scythed round my orchard trees and
the younger windbreak plantings.
This morning after breakfast, finishing off the raking up of the mowings
ahead of forecast heavy rain,
I found songbird feathers scattered on the compost pile:
presumably, remains of a sparrowhawk strike.
No red down, so at least not one of the robins
who have been so busy close alongside me recently.
