My excuse is that the strong Pembrokeshire sunlight
has a deleterious effect on deckchair canvas;
thus, the original striped cloth ripped straight across
while I was “aboard” late last summer,
no doubt to the amusement of passing swallows.
Well, as you can see, the deckchair is back in service –
and hopefully the doubled-over replacement canvas will last a good while,
because it is cut from a sail: the genoa, I think, from
Captain Fantastic, a fifty year old Ireland-bound cruiser
which came off worse in an argument with Gateholm Island
late in February 2019.
