You will see from the sketch that I worked out the composition a while back; but I could only paint on location when the wind strength allowed. In the end, I was very lucky and there came a calm morning after a strong blow which, the tide state being right, allowed me to complete the work. A slightly different perspective – and definitely different sea conditions – from the painting which I used on the cover of my poetry book, To Marloes With Love.
