I gave my history talk, The Wreck Of The Albion, on Wednesday 26th July in Marloes Village Hall – one of four events the hall is laying on over this summer. It went down well, with about 50 people attending who all seemed appreciative.
The following afternoon I went down to Marloes Sands and, as usual, followed up my swim with some beachcombing. I had told my audience that English oak timbers from Albion (and possibly her near sister paddle steamer Queen which sank off Skokholm) show up from time to time; and I had emphasised that they could be distinguished by the pegged construction – well, what should I come across at the Churchill end of the beach but this beautiful specimen…?
