Yesterday evening saw me up in the Soil Mine using my screener (separate post to follow some time). Typical for fine summer weather, excellent FM radio reception from Ireland: I was tuned to this station, RTE’s equivalent of Radio Cymru…
The programme itself…
A succession of lovely tunes; alas, I could not understand the announcer but I sometimes twigged the names of performers and anglicised titles.
I was just heading away to deliver a barrow of sifted soil for topping up a sunken veg bed when I thought I heard, breaking out from the lady’s mellifluous stream of Gaelic, “The Smell Of The Bog”… And trundled off as the music began thinking, ‘No, you silly old fool: that’s bloody tinnitus for you!’
But sure enough, returning empty in time for the end of the piece, it came again: “The Smell Of The Bog” – and when I checked the website playlist this morning… All I can suggest is, nice tune or not, think very carefully before requesting it for the one you love!
