Whoops!

Musselwick Sands, December 10th
Dogs’ toys are hardly rarities on any Welsh beach; but the white ball is unusual – I’ve never found one before. It is a Sliotar, as used in the Irish game of hurling: heavily stitched leather wrapped around a cork core. Either people were practising on a beach, or someone really whanged a shot out of the ground!
The 086 phone number gives no clue as to where the ball originated – that’s the all-Ireland code for O2! Apparently size 5 is used in adult matches.
